  1. DTMF.EXE

  3. This program uses a SoundBlaster card to decode DTMF (Touch Tone) tones.
  4.  
  5. Usage should be self-explanatory.  You need to connect an audio source
  6. which includes DTMF tones to the Soundblaster input.  The tones
  7. decoded are displayed on the screen.  If there is a pause of more
  8. than a few seconds, a new line is begun.
  9.  
  10. An optional command line argument is a log file to which decoded numbers
  11. will be appended with a date/time stamp.
  12.

  15. will create or append to the file: LOG.
  16. If no file is specified, output will be to the screen only.

  18. Compatibility

  20. The program has been tested on the Creative Labs SoundBlaster card
  21. version 2.0.  Please let me know if it does/doesn't work on any
  22. other cards.

  24. Timing is done using the SB card's timer.  It should therefore run
  25. on any speed cpu.  However, it has only been tested on a 386/20
  26. at this location.

  28. Speaker Noise
  29.  
  30. The speaker is turned off.  However, on my unit a lot of hash comes
  31. out of the speaker when I read the A/D converter. This may be a
  32. hardware problem, or may relate to the BLAST13 library.  I will be
  33. looking into it, but if you can offer any suggestions, I'm all ears.

  37. The program was based on the FFTMORSE program by François Jalbert
  38. (jalbert@IRO.UMontreal.CA) and uses the Sound-Blaster C Library
  39. BLAST13 by Joel Lucsy.  After I get the permission of both of these
  40. authors, I will make the full source available.
